The Cottage Lodge is situated just a few minutes walk from Brockenhurst main street where you will see the famous watersplash where ponies, cattle, donkeys and other Forest animals come to drink. This little stream runs right across the main road so drive through slowly if taking your car and turn left or right to explore the fabulous open New Forest where all the animals have rights of way and the speed limit is a maximum of 40. Please do not feed the animals as although they all have owners within the New Forest they have not been broken in and are wild, and you can get fined if found feeding them. Horse riding and cycling are also available nearby.

As Brockenhurst is just off the centre of the New Forest within a short drive you can explore the lovely Georgian yachting town of Lymington where on Saturdays you have the street market and the ferry leaves to the Isle of Wight every day all year round. Lyndhurst the capital of the New Forest is nearby and a short drive across the forest takes you to the world famous Beaulieu Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard where they built some of the first wooden boats using Forest Timber. With so many attractions to visit in the area you will not know which to choose, but your hosts will soon point you in the right direction and help plan your day for you if required.
