If you are looking for relaxed family accommodation, Oakdene could be your home from home in the heart of the New Forest. Sleeps 9 +2
Norleywood is a small hamlet in a quiet part of the New Forest just three miles east of the bustling sailing town of Lymington.
We are right in the "forest proper" so outside our gate you will often find ponies, donkeys, cows and sometimes pigs and from here you can walk or cycle for miles and miles. Norley wood enclosure is right opposite us and offers a great exploring ground for younger kids with its network of tracks.
Once you've had enough of that and need some refreshment, the local pub is the excellent East End Arms, a pleasant 15 minutes walk across the fields.
A two mile stroll through fields and lanes will find you at the Solent shore with stunning views of the Isle of Wight whilst a 15/20 minute drive will get you to larger sandy beaches at Milford on Sea and Highcliffe. We are also only two miles from the Isle of Wight ferry to Yarmouth (a great day trip on foot, bikes or car).
Oakdene Self Catering
The living accommodation is open plan with a large farmhouse table seating up to 12 giving on to a oak framed conservatory-style living room.
The well equipped kitchen has a woodburning Aga-style cooker as well as a conventional electric cooker and microwave.
The sleeping accommodation on the ground floor consists of:
- A double room with 5' bed
- A children's room with bunk beds
- Another children's room with two single "high" beds and one single under.
- A comfortable double sofabed off the kitchen area. (this is the plus 2)
- Up the spiral staircase there is a 4'6" bed in the loft room.
(Please note that the bedrooms are small, but the living accommodation is spacious - we feel this is right way round)!
The Laundry room has a shower and a loo at the far end and lots of cupboard space as well as a sink and a washing machine and dryer (although there are plenty of "green" options for drying clothes too).
The main bathroom has a bath, loo and hand basin as well as an airing cupboard.
Outside, the sliding folding doors from the conservatory lead onto a large decking area with table, chairs and BBQ, and the enclosed garden is home to a 14ft trampoline, swing, climbing frame (all used at your own risk). For those interested in growing or picking your own, the garden will also have some vegetables and fruit that will need harvesting - and enjoying - (quantities and varieties will depend on the time you are here).
If you are looking for comfortable accommodation which is not fussy and have one large or two small families to house, we are confident that you will enjoy using our home.
Price is from £750 to £900 per week,
