The Hunting Lodge is an idyllic little self-catering holiday hideaway in the village of Winsor on the edge of the New Forest, Hampshire. Being 4 miles from Lyndhurst and only 5 miles from Southampton it has nearby links to the M27 enabling you to visit lots of nearby attractions or to simply stroll through the New Forest heath and woodland.

Self Catering Accommodation

The Hunting Lodge offers a clean, inviting, relaxing and spacious living area which is attractively furnished with comfortable sofas, TV with freeview, family dining table and chairs, double doors open onto the decking area overlooking the pond. There is a wood burning stove for use in the winter months.

There are 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed which looks out over the pond, the other room has a single bed. A leather sofa in the lounge area opens up to form a comfortable double bed providing the additional sleeping accommodation.

Guests have the convenience of a small kitchenette which contains a fridge, sink, 2 ring hob, kettle, microwave with small grill, slow cooker, tea and coffee making facilities, toaster, all cutlery, plates etc.

A newly refurbished fully tiled shower room with toilet, wash hand basin and towel rail completes this lovely accommodation.

Bed linen, towels and electricity are all inclusive.

Working Farm

Hunting Lodge is on Scatterbrook Farm - which is a working farm, and whilst you are here you welcome to meet the animals which include 8 horses, Percy, Pinky and Penny the peacocks, 4 tame ducks with numerous wild ducks on the pond, 40 hens, 4 dogs, while our sheep and pigs can also be seen grazing in the fields.

We are very child friendly having 4 children of our own aged from 8 - 16, because of the pond and as we are a working farm, children need to be supervised at all times.

Grocery shopping is easy, with both the small towns of Romsey and Lyndhurst just a short drive from our accommodation. Slightly further away (5 miles) there is the city of Southampton. A wide range of tastes and appetites are catered for with Chinese, Thai, Italian and Indian restaurants and takeaways, country pubs and fish and chip shops all within 5 minutes drive. Alternatively there is a lovely village pub well known for offering enormous meals at very reasonable prices a mere 10 minutes walk away.

Local Attractions

There are many places to visit and things to do and see in the local area. With its wide variety of landscapes and wildlife the New Forest is a wonderful place to explore either on foot, on horseback, on bicycles or by car.

The cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester are only ½ hour drives away, and just beyond Salisbury is Stonehenge. The old market town of Romsey with its magnificent Norman Abbey, and Broadlands, the family home of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten is also only 4 miles away.

Weekly lets are from 4pm Saturday to 10.00am the following Saturday.
Long Weekends and Short Breaks Available.

Apologies, no smoking and no dogs in the lodge although boarding in kennels can be provided if required.
