About Explore the New Forest

Explore the Forest was established in 2007, as an independent internet based directory on the New Forest National Park by Helen Renouf, with the aim to provide visitors and local residents with information about accommodation, attractions, events and more within the New Forest and surrounding area.

In 1998 - Helen was involved in the original development of the New Forest Holiday Bureau online. At this time "The New Forest Holiday Bureau" was a telephone booking service for Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in the area, and as the demand for a web present was increased - Helen helped Mary and Roger Lewis the owners of the New Forest Holiday Bureau in designing a basic site for them to maintain.

The online directory grew with listings for bed and breakfast, self catering and hotels coming on board, along with individual web sites for accommodation, attractions and eating establishments, and at the same time there was huge growth in online web sites. The online directory now provides one of the most thorough accommodation directories on the New Forest which enables holiday makers to contact the establishments directly to make their bookings without any additional commissions.

In 2007, Mary and Roger Lewis retired from the Holiday Bureau, and Helen took over the online web business and relaunched the web site with a fresh new look that incorporates a more modern approach that would encourage visitors to the New Forest from across the world.

Explore the New Forest is now managed by Helen who aims to include a variety of fresh content about events and features that are happening in and around the New Forest, and she would love to hear from you if you have any ideas that could be incorporated in future.
